Ignite Business Review
Posted by Charles Brady
Background:
Ignite, powered by Stream Energy, has been around since 2004. Ignite is an Energy company that currently natural gas and electricity in Texas and only natural gas in Georgia. At the time this article is being written, Ignite is currently launching their natural gas services in Massachusetts. Ignite's aim is to mix the necessity of natural gas with the lucrative business model of network marketing... is it working? Well, time will tell.
The Founder and Managing Partner is Chris Domhoff, the guy who was at the head of the Excel company when they went bankrupt in 2004. Not good. Again, the Energy company that they use is called Stream Energy, which is the natural gas and electricity service you will sell as an Ignite Consultant. Ignite choose to market via network marketing to save advertising cost normally spent on TV, Radio and Print Advertising (smart!). Again this is a brilliant move from the company and stake holder's perspective.
Products:
You're selling customers in Texas on why they should switch their natural gas and electrical services to Stream Energy (Ignite). Those in Georgia can switch their natural gas only. In theory, you are simply providing an alternative more so than selling a new service or product. We all are paying these expenses every month anyway, right?
Pros:
- Fairly low start-up cost, you can start your business for $299 ($19.95 per month afterwards)
- Service that everyone needs and is already paying
- Support, many weekly meetings in both Georgia and Texas
- Really a very low risk business model
- Quick and fairly simple to get up and running within days
- Large upside since only 3 active states thus far
Cons:
- Only currently in 3 states thus far is also a downer for those not in one of those states
- Terrible compensation plan... 10 recruits and you make a whopping $200!
- Same owner that led the Excel ship into bankruptcy
- Primary marketing strategy is passing out or mailing a DVD that most will never watch
- Still conducting at home, hotel and office meetings inviting friends and family
- No big ticket items, thus you need a ton of new targeted leads per day to generate real income

Conclusion:
In conclusion, Ignite has a great concept and decent products. Ignite has a good starting price to go with a low risk business model. There is large upside and you can get going fairly quickly. However, it appears that Ignite is still in its infancy stages with only 3 states currently active. Furthermore, the compensation plan is absolutely not geared toward quick profits. As a result, it will take most 24-36 months to build any momentum. Roughly 97% of those that join companies like Ignite end up quitting long before they ever see substantial (if any) profits. That being said, if you feel you are in the 3% that can and will make this opportunity work for you, then give it a serious look.
